Two decades of recycling innovation

We started with one goal: keep materials in circulation.

Now we operate a full-cycle ecosystem spanning kerbside, commercial and soft plastics recovery.

We build recycling systems that work in the real world

From a single truck to a national recycling ecosystem.

2002–2009:
Building capability where it didn’t exist.

Like many Australian operators, we began with a highly fragmented waste system.

Recyclable materials were collected, transported, sold, or exported with no guarantee of circular outcomes.

APR Recycling’s model was different: we created capacity where it was missing and took responsibility for the material once collected.

2009–2023:
Specialisation across streams.

Over the next decade, APR Recycling expanded into specialised business units, each solving a different recycling challenge:
  • Australian Paper Recovery
  • APR Kerbside
  • APR Plastics
  • APR ChemCycle
Each arm built scale and credibility, servicing councils, industry partners and commercial operators across Victoria.
Even as our capabilities grew, we saw a new challenge: the market perceived us as separate businesses, not one integrated system.
This fragmentation diluted the recognition of APR Recycling’s true impact and leadership.

2009–2023:
Unification under one powerful identity.

We consolidated our business into a single, unified brand: APR Recycling.

This shift simplifies communication, strengthens recognition and positions APR Recycling as a challenger and thought leader in Australia’s recycling sector.

With innovations like Advanced Recycling, first-mover environmental licences, and new facility at Bacchus Marsh, APR Recycling is leading the transition from “waste” to “resource.”

Why we exist

We are here to solve the hardest problems in recycling.

Soft plastics are not a niche problem.

They are the material Australians use every day, and the material most recycling systems cannot handle. We built processes that transform them into high-value materials: film-grade polyethylene and recycled polymer oils. This keeps plastics circulating instead of downcycled, stockpiled or exported.

Kerbside success depends on clarity and reliability.

Councils and residents need consistent rules, transparent sorting and predictable outcomes. Our kerbside model combines education, operational precision and contamination management, so recyclable materials you put in bins don’t just get emptied, they get recovered.

Business waste is a resource, not a liability.

From warehouses and manufacturers to shopping centres and distribution networks, APR Recycling gives organisations the infrastructure they need to recycle at scale while reducing operational cost and risk.

Our Circular Model

Engineered circularity

collection

sorting

processing

new products

The APR Recycling system is built to ensure materials never hit a dead end.  Where traditional recycling treats waste as a commodity, we treat it as a manufacturing input.

Our Process

Collect materials at scale (kerbside, commercial, industrial)
Sort and segregate to
preserve material quality

Process into high-value forms (oil)

Who we serve

Partners who move Australia forward.

Governments and Councils

We design programs that reduce landfill disposal, deliver community education, and comply with EPA and regulatory expectations. Our reporting and transparency support procurement, ESG targets and ratepayer accountability.

Commercial and industrial operators

Businesses need solutions that are scalable, safe and traceable. From bins and balers to soft plastic recovery infrastructure, we provide systems that reduce waste costs and deliver measurable outcomes.

Social and community partners

We collaborate with disability enterprises, local organisations and community recyclers. Recycling is economic and environmental, but it is also social.

Our Values

More than recycling. We invent better futures.

Persistence

For over two decades, we have accepted challenges others won’t.

If a material stream is messy, unprofitable or inconvenient, we build systems to solve it.

Innovation

From advanced recycling to polymer transformation, we invest in technologies that improve circular outcomes today, not someday.

Responsibility

We do not outsource responsibility.

We ensure that materials processed through APR Recycling are tracked to ensure accountability.

We stand behind every tonne we touch.

Our Vision

A circular economy that works at industrial scale.

The future of recycling isn’t aspirational, it is engineered. APR Recycling will continue to expand its capabilities, invest locally, and support councils, industries and supply chains to turn waste into resource, not as a one-off, but as a system that will outlast the challenges ahead.

Work with us to build circular outcomes.

Whether you’re a council, a commercial operator or an industry partner, APR Recycling can design a program that reduces your disposal of waste resources to landfill, improves material recovery and creates traceable value from your waste streams.
